品种介绍：已知的寄居蟹品种有几十种，在我国沿海较常见的品种有方腕寄居蟹和栉螯寄居蟹。方腕寄居蟹比栉螯寄居蟹体形稍大，寄居的螺体最大直径可达15厘米以上。

产地：
国内宠物市场上常见的寄居蟹主要产在黄海及南方海域的海岸边缘。

生活习性：
这些小生物通常生活在沙滩和海边的岩石缝隙里。它们是一种寄生在螺壳中的特殊小螃蟹，平时四处爬行时就把海螺的壳背在身上，受到惊吓会立即将身体缩入螺壳内。随着蟹体的逐渐长大，寄居蟹会寻找新的壳体换壳。

幼小的寄居蟹往往是白色的，长大了则有黑色、红色等多种颜色。

饲养方法：
饲养寄居蟹可用鱼缸或较大的玻璃罐、塑料罐等容器，底部铺满砂石，砌成斜坡状。调好0.4-0.5%浓度的盐水，淹至斜坡1/3-1/4处，有条件的话还可装一个小型过滤器。夏天每星期要换水1/3，冬天换水时间可稍长一些。

食物：
自然界中的寄居蟹以腐烂的生物为食。饲养寄居蟹可喂其碎鱼肉、蚬肉或小虾肉等，食物应放置在水上砂面，每天喂一次就行了，吃不完的食物要及时清理，以免污染水质。

注意事项：
寄居蟹不断的长大，原来身上的海螺壳就容不下它的身体了，所以必须准备好稍大一些的空壳，它们会自己钻到新壳中去。通常想把寄居蟹从壳中赶出来是比较困难的，有一个办法：用打火机稍微把寄居蟹的壳加热一点，它立刻就从海螺壳中逃出来了。人工脱壳的寄居蟹总是先尾后头式的进入第一次遇到的贝壳；失壳后有抢壳的行为，且对壳的大小有一定的选择性。
