龜龜新世代出版至今一年多,支持這本書的龜友們遠超過站長原先的估計.顯示的事實是, 多數龜友都有很高的求知慾望.台灣的爬蟲養殖水準不僅落後歐美國家數十年,就連鄰近的香港日本都領先台灣甚多.要迎頭趕上僅僅依賴飼養經驗根本緩不濟急,書籍,提供了一個最簡單最有效的加速途徑.大量研讀吸收前輩高人經驗的累積,絕對可以節省許多金錢與精神上的浪費.

龜龜新世代是站長花費了一年的時間做出來的第一本書,由選書,洽談版權,翻譯,攝影,設計,編排,校對完全一手主導,所以耗費的時間非常長.長到差點連頭路都砸了.同時站長也密切注意國外有關爬蟲最新的出版訊息,終於在今年初發現美國Living Art Publishing出版了一本相當高水準的水龜專書Keeping and Breeding Freshwater turtles.站長在完全讀過這本書之後決定代理引進台灣.這本書可能是目前市面上最新的水龜專書,同時也是涵蓋面最廣,也最深入的一本書.而在洽談過程中又發現負責人Mr. Russ Gurley同時也是美國Turtle and Tortoise Preservation Group的創始人.繁殖水龜的種類與數量都非一般繁殖場可以比擬.他本人也與北美各大龜類繁殖場保持著密切的合作關係.

Gurley 先生不僅對水龜研究深入,對陸龜也是經驗豐富,The Aafrican Spurred Tortoise Geochelone sulcata in Captivity 就是他2002年所寫的一本單一品種龜書.應該也是所有蘇卡達專書中最近期的.

台灣的爬蟲人口雖然逐年增加,但是畢竟仍然屬於小眾市場,如果把龜書都做成中文版,肯定成本會高到沒人買得起.因為達不到經濟規模;另一方面站長也無法再耗費大量時間做書,畢竟這是很專業的工作.所幸站長發現多數爬友都具備了中高級的英文能力,因此決定直接引進英文原版書籍,讓台灣與美國沒有出版時差,最新爬蟲資訊可以同步傳遞.

原版書籍在價格上自然偏高,但是Gurley先生和站長都不是以營利為目的,因此特別依照美國當地相當的售價上市.這在原文書籍來說是非常困難的,完全是Gurley先生的鼎力協助才能實現站長的目標.不過相信也有不少人會注意到,這類由保育協會所出版的書籍在美工印刷設計上多半都還有改善的空間,這也是站長最覺得美中不足的地方.

至於其他三本書:Baby Turtles, Tarantulas of the World和Day Geckos in Captivity目前只有引進樣書,前兩本同樣是Gurley先生所寫的,Day Geckos in Captivity則是由另兩位GGA守宮專家所寫的,也是相當專業的日行守宮專書,水準遠高於其他日行守宮專書.有興趣的爬友不妨到孤獨喬治去看免錢的.運氣好一點的說不定還可以坳到一本.
